About the project

Future medicine will be predictive, preventive, personalized and digital. Data and knowledge must be available for research and care provision, as a basis for targeted diagnostics and therapy. Data acquisition, integration and sharing are key to achieving these goals, using high-quality data and new, energy-efficient devices powered by artificial intelligence (AI) algorithms for effective patient care.

The Clinical Hospital Center in Split, as a supporter of this project, uses the Hospital Information System (HIS) - a fully digitized system that enables access to patients’ health records with digitally available data and documents. The system, as such, supports writing database queries to extract targeted information of well-structured data that can be used to build a large data system for research purposes.

This project proposal involves the development of a parallel system, a mirror image of HIS prepared for research purposes, structured in a way that semantically describes the patient with relevant information, enabling data analysis with the aim of improving diagnostics and prognosis.

The project will also use knowledge, developed technologies in the field of hardware and software, and experiences from the previous, successfully concluded establishment project financed by the Croatian Science Foundation (Internet of things: research and applications), with the aim of implementing the developed knowledge in new systems that together with data from HIS with the help of the application of artificial intelligence algorithms form a whole whose goal is to gain new knowledge of applications in medicine and thereby improve the patient care.

In addition to the creation of the already mentioned new software environment, the project front will also make two contributions with the application of data from HIS, in terms of the creation of new devices, related to applications in emergency medicine (asthma scenario) and sleep medicine.

About the project

The SeaMate project explores the potential of applying artificial intelligence (AI) and the Internet of Things (IoT) to improve safety, efficiency and sustainability in smart nautical systems management, combining large language models (LLM), AI and IoT analytics to optimize the user experience in nautical tourism and improve vessel management.

The project focuses on the development of a virtual assistant for sailors, based on LLM and AI systems that enable real-time data analysis, personalized recommendations and automated responses via augmented reality (XR). The assistant provides information on safety procedures, weather conditions and technical support, which significantly contributes to the optimization of navigation and the reduction of risks in maritime traffic.

In addition, an IoT sensor network system is being investigated that includes monitoring of environmental conditions, energy consumption and vessel performance. The use of LPWAN technologies, satellite radio communications in combination with meteorological sensors, universal radio devices will enable real-time data collection and analysis. The data is processed using neural networks for advanced analytics, enabling predictive maintenance and optimization of ship trajectories.

This research contributes to the development of smart IoT solutions applicable in various fields, from maritime transport to emergency medical care. Through the synergy of AI, IoT and LLM technologies, the project offers an innovative approach to digitization and optimization of the nautical sector, increasing its competitiveness and environmental sustainability.

The main goal of the project is to develop a common strategy for the digitalization of civil protection plans. This will be achieved through an IT platform based on a Decision Support System (DSS) utilizing data gathered from various sources. The platform will be structured using production microservices and tailored to the needs of partner territories.

Additionally, IoT sensors will be installed in the partner areas for the development and monitoring of DSS connected to the platform. Throughout the developmental phases of the platform, emphasis will be placed on meetings and content sharing among partners. Priority will be given to training staff and exchanging DSS development methodologies to ensure the involvement of all participants in the digitalized civil protection plan.

The project will include training sessions, workshops, as well as the exchange of fundamental knowledge gained from previous projects. International conferences will also be organized to achieve this goal. The work plan is as follows and can be divided into the following stages: 1. Digitalization of civil protection plans 2. Platform development 3. Construction and pilot implementation with IoT sensor installation 4.

About the project

Given the strong impact that technology has on all areas of human life, the media contains a vast amount of information touching on technological development. However, the creators of such content are often individuals who lack the necessary expertise, resulting in numerous disseminated misinformation.

Therefore, as an initial step in addressing this problem, it is necessary to ensure an unbiased and non-commercial source of information based on evidence from the relevant field. Through this project, a communication platform in the form of a virtual magazine will be developed. This platform will publish debunked and corrected information, and it will allow anyone interested to ask questions and receive expert opinions on related topics.

The project will bring together a wide network of collaborators engaged in fact-checking. An algorithm will be developed to identify peer reviewers of scientific papers as potential fact-checkers, using available databases. Media representatives will also be educated, and collaboration will be established with them as part of the project.

Project partners will create various media content and promote project activities to raise public awareness about the problem of misinformation in these areas.
